Physicomechanical Behavior of High-Performance Concrete Reinforced with Recycled Steel Fibers from Twisted Cables in the Brittle State—Experimentation and Statistics

This research studied the effect of recycled steel fibers extracted from twisted cable waste on fresh and hardened states high-performance concretes. Accordingly, slump, water absorption (WA), compressive strength (CS), flexural (FS), split tensile (STS) were measured in laboratory using mixtures generated by response surface methodology (RSM). The RSM-based central composite design (CCD) was used to assess influence water-to-binder (W/B) ratios 0.27 0.31, length-to-diameter (L/d = 46 80) fiber content (SFC) range 19 29 kg/m3 behavior fiber-reinforced concrete (HPFRC). accuracy validation models evaluated employing analysis variance (ANOVA) optimal parameters. experimental findings revealed that use an L/d ratio 63, a W/B approximately 0.28, SFC around 22 resulted high workability terms slump. While notable increase observed when 70, maximum kg/m3, as confirmed scanning electron microscopy (SEM) X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis.
